Srinagar, Aug 23(GNS): Two undertrial prisoners facing charges under POCSO Act have escaped from Central Jail Srinagar, prompting police to issue lookout notices.
Kashmir Zone Police, in a post on X, as per GNS identified the escapees as Mukhtar Ahmad Gujjar and Farman Khan.
As per police, Mukhtar Ahmad Gujjar, S/o Mohammad Rafiq Gujjar, R/o Sanglan Chittergul, Anantnag, is accused in FIR No. 20/2026 U/S 137(2), 65(1) BNS and 3/4 POCSO Act registered at Police Station Soura.
The second accused, Farman Khan, S/o Abdul Gani Khan, R/o Sadanpora Ragistan, is wanted in FIR No. 19/2026 U/S 137(2), 87 BNS and 3/4 POCSO Act registered at Police Station Lar.
Police said efforts are on to trace both the accused and have appealed general public to share any information regarding their whereabouts.
