Srinagar, August 24:The Jammu and Kashmir unit of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) is gearing up for a major protest against the National Conference-led government headed by Chief Minister Omar Abdullah, with around 10,000 party workers and supporters expected to participate in a Secretariat Gherao March in Srinagar on September 2.

The protest will also see participation from members of civil society, students, trade unions, fruit unions and other organisations.

According to Adv. Sajid Yousuf Shah, State Co-Media Incharge, BJP J&K, the march will begin at 10 AM from Lal Chowk, from where BJP workers and supporters will proceed towards the Civil Secretariat.

The BJP J&K has announced that the protest will focus on several issues, including the recent electricity tariff hike, alleged 24,000 backdoor appointments, corruption and what it termed administrative misgovernance under the present government.

Shah said the protest is aimed at highlighting public grievances and holding the government accountable over what the party describes as failures on key governance, employment and administrative issues.
