Anantnag, Sep 10 (GNS): A 65-year-old man sustained injuries after being attacked by a wild bear in south Kashmir’s Anantnag district on Thursday.
Officials told GNS that one Ghulam Hassan Magray, son of Habibullah Magray, resident of Chowgam, aged about 65 years, was attacked by a wild bear near his native village Chowgam in Shangus area of the district.
Locals said Magray was outside when the bear suddenly appeared and pounced on him, leaving him injured.
Soon after the incident, locals rushed to the spot and evacuated the injured person to Sub District Hospital (SDH) Shangus for treatment, where his condition is stated to be stable.
Meanwhile, locals have appealed to the Wildlife Department to take necessary measures to prevent such incidents in the area.(GNS)
