July 20: Continuing its sustained crackdown on illegal mining, J&K Police in Shopian seized four tractors involved in the unauthorized extraction and transportation of minerals from different areas of the district.
During routine patrolling a police party from Police Post Berthipora intercepted and seized two tractors involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals without valid royalty documents. In this regard, FIR No. 77/2026 under relevant sections of law have been registered at Police Station Keller and investigation has been set into motion. In a similar action Police party from Police Post Saidpora intercepted and seized two tractors engaged in illegal mining activities without mandatory permissions. In this regard FIR No.67/2026 under relevant provisions of law has been registered at Police Station Heerpora and investigation has been initiated.
Police reiterates its firm commitment to protecting the district’s natural resources and ensuring strict legal action against those involved in illegal mining.
