Srinagar: Actors’ Creative Theatre on Saturday kickstarted a three-day winter youth festival under the banner of ‘Jashn-e-Sheen’ at Tagore Hall here. The festival is being organised by Actors’ Creative Theatre in collaboration with J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages in collaboration with J&K Bank Ltd. The theme of the festival theme is about showcasing the incredible talent of young and aspiring artists from the Valley. On day one, the event witnessed mesmerizing performances of Kashmiri and Gojri folk dances and enchanting Kashmiri traditional music. The newcomers in the field of music presented the songs in multiple languages including Kashmiri, Hindi and Punjabi. Besides, several specially-abled kids also performed to the much excitement of the audience. The most popular and appreciated presentation of the day was by the twin sisters (Zaiba & Zainab) – the sensational social-media duo. Before the formal start of the programme, heartfelt tributes were paid to celebrated poet, intellectual, broadcaster and former Director Doordarshan and All India Radio Late Farooq Nazki. The festival was announced as being dedicated to Late Farooq Nazki itself. Zaffar Iqbal Manhas, former Secretary J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages and former MLC attended the opening ceremony as Chief Guest. The guests of honour on the occasion included; Rauf Ahmad Punjabi the former President of Kashmir Chamber of Commerce and a leading businessman of Valley, Basheer Aarif former director of All India Radio, Tariq Javaid the renowned Artist, Waheed Jeelani the heart throb singer of Kashmir and Gulzar Bhat the Chairman of All J&K Folk Artists Association.
