In view of the forecast for heavy rainfall, along with the risk of flash floods, cloudbursts, and landslides, all trekking and hiking activities in hilly areas should be strictly avoided until 24 July.
The government and local authorities should also consider disallowing trekking activities during this period to minimize the risk to human life.
Mountainous terrain is highly vulnerable during intense rainfall. Short-duration heavy downpours can rapidly trigger flash floods, landslides, and debris flows, leaving little or no time for people to react.
No adventure is worth risking lives. It is advisable to postpone all trekking plans until weather conditions improve.
