Handwara, April 30: A tragic road accident on the Handwara bypass claimed the life of a young motorcyclist after his bike collided with a load carrier vehicle on Thursday.
According to reports, the accident involved a motorcycle bearing registration number JK09E-0932, ridden by Shahid Ahmad Shah, son of Irshad Ahmad Shah, a resident of Maidan Chogal, and a load carrier bearing registration number JK09E-1239, driven by an unidentified driver.
In the collision, the bike rider sustained critical injuries and was immediately shifted to Government Medical College (GMC) Handwara for treatment. However, doctors declared him brought dead upon arrival.
The driver of the load carrier fled the scene soon after the accident. Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further investigation. More details are awaited.(KNC)
