Ganderbal, May 8: An unidentified body was recovered from an agricultural irrigation canal in the Thuru area of Yanhama in central Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Friday, officials said.
According to officials, locals noticed the body inside the canal and immediately alerted the police. Following the information, a police team rushed to the spot and recovered the body from the canal.
The identity of the deceased could not be established immediately, officials added.
The body has been shifted for medico-legal procedures, while police have started an investigation to determine the identity of the deceased and the circumstances leading to the death.
Further investigation in the matter is going on.(KNC)
