Srinagar, July 28 (GNS): The body of a 25-year-old man who had jumped into the River Jhelum near Sempora, Pantha Chowk was recovered on Tuesday, six days after the incident.
Officials told GNS that a joint search operation was launched by SDRF QRT Pantha Chowk, SDRF QRT from Battalion Headquarters Srinagar, and NDRF to trace the youth.
The deceased has been identified as Sajad Ahmad Mir, son of Ghulam Mohammad, a resident of Balhama, Srinagar. He had allegedly jumped into the river on July 23.
After prolonged efforts, the teams managed to retrieve the body from the river. It was shifted for postmortem and will be handed over to the family for last rites after completion of legal formalities, officials said. (GNS)
