Pulwama, Sep 9: A couple from Central Kashmir’s Budgam district met with a mishap while travelling on a train from Baramulla to Sangaldhan.
Railway sources told the news agency Kashmir News Trust that the husband, identified as Reyaz Ahmed Mohand, son of Abdul Ahad Mohand, a resident of Kawoosa Budgam, reportedly fell from the moving train (75652) near Panzgam area of Pulwama. In a desperate attempt to save him, his wife jumped off the train as well.
While Reyaz Ahmed died on the spot, his wife sustained grievous injuries. She has been shifted to the hospital for specialized treatment, where her condition is stated to be critical.
Officials said preliminary reports suggest Reyaz Ahmed lost balance and fell, after which his wife leapt from the train. Police and railway authorities have taken cognizance of the incident. [KNT]
Youth Dies, Three Critically Injured in Hyderbeg Pattan Road Accident
Baramulla, Sep 9, KNT: A youth lost his life while three others sustained critical injuries in a road accident at Hyderbeg Pattan in north Kashmir’s Baramulla district on Tuesday.
Sources told the news agency Kashmri News Trust that the mishap occurred when a Chhota Hathi auto hit a speeding motorcycle, resulting in serious injuries to four persons. All of them were immediately shifted to Sub District Hospital Pattan, where doctors declared 23-year-old Arsalan Habib, son of Habibullah Shah, a resident of Wusan Pattan, dead on arrival.
The other three injured were referred to JVC Hospital Bemina, Srinagar for specialized treatment. They have been identified as 22-year-old Ayaan Majeed Khan, a resident of Checksir Pattan, 28-year-old Umer Rasheed, also from Checksir Pattan, and Muhammad Hafiz Iqbal, a non-Kashmiri hailing from Delhi. All three have sustained multiple injuries and their condition is stated to be critical.
Police have taken cognizance of the accident and initiated further proceedings. [KNT]
