April 28: As part of the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyan, Police in Budgam conducted a comprehensive inspection drive of medical shops across various locations, with a special focus on remote areas of District Budgam, to ensure strict adherence to government regulations and prevent the misuse of pharmaceutical drugs.
During the drive, joint teams comprising officers from various Police Stations, Police Posts, and officials from the Drug Control Department conducted thorough inspections. The teams scrutinized stock registers, sale and purchase records, valid licenses, and other mandatory documentation maintained by medical shop owners.
In the Narbal area, five medical shops were sealed by the Drug Inspector in the presence of the Incharge Police Post Narbal for alleged violations related to the non-installation of CCTV cameras and non-compliance with other norms prescribed under drug control regulations. The inspection drive was aimed at identifying irregularities and curbing the illegal sale and misuse of medicines, particularly controlled and prescription drugs, which can contribute to substance abuse, especially among the youth. All medical shop owners were directed to strictly adhere to regulatory norms and maintain proper documentation as mandated under law.
J&K Police reiterated that such joint inspection drives will continue under the ongoing initiative to ensure accountability, promote lawful practices, and safeguard public health and safety.
