Poonch/Rajouri, July19(GNS):Casualties and injuries have been reported in Poonch and Rajouri districts on Sunday after heavy rainfall triggered house collapses and flash floods.
In Poonch, a kaccha house collapsed in Noonabandi area of Haveli Tehsil. A woman died in the incident.
Officials told GNS that three other members of the same family were injured and shifted to District Hospital Poonch for treatment. Their condition is stated to be stable.
In a separate incident in Poonch, an 18-year-old girl drowned in a nallah in Marhote area amid heavy rainfall. Her body was later recovered from near the spot.
In Rajouri, a woman died after being caught in a flash flood in Murrah area of Surankote. Locals said this was the first such major flood in Surankote since 1992.
Authorities said rescue and relief operations are underway in the affected areas.
