New Delhi, August 18: A CBI Court in Delhi has sentenced three accused persons to four years’ imprisonment and imposed a fine of ₹3.5 lakh each in a bank fraud case involving an alleged ₹7 crore loan fraud.
The accused have been identified as Amit Chaturvedi, Sanjay Chaturvedi and Pravin Juneja.
According to the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI), the case was registered on April 8, 2009, following the conversion of a Preliminary Enquiry into a regular case. The accused were alleged to have conspired with each other to obtain a ₹7 crore Rupee Term Loan from UCO Bank by submitting false information and forged documents.
The investigation alleged that the accused showed fabricated utilisation of the loan proceeds and subsequently siphoned off the funds for purposes other than those for which the loan had been sanctioned, thereby causing wrongful loss to the bank.
After completing its investigation, the CBI filed a chargesheet against the accused on June 1, 2010. Following the trial, the competent court found the accused guilty and sentenced them accordingly.
The CBI said the latest conviction assumes added significance as it marks the third conviction of Amit Chaturvedi, Sanjay Chaturvedi and Pravin Juneja in bank fraud cases investigated and prosecuted by the agency.The court’s judgment was pronounced on August 18, 2026.(KNC)
