Srinagar, Aug 3 (GNS): Flash floods were triggered in Zavora, Budherhama and Kijarsinda areas of Shopian on Monday after a cloudburst hit the upper reaches of the district.
In response, the SDRF Rescue Team Shopian launched evacuation operations and safely shifted approximately 80 people, including schoolchildren and staff members, to safer locations.
Officials told GNS that no loss of life or damage to property has been reported from Shopian so far. Damage assessment is underway in the affected areas.
Meanwhile, in Pahalgam, the back concrete brick wall of the Base Camp Nunwan collapsed due to heavy rains. As a result, water entered the camp and damaged dwelling tents.
Authorities said no injuries were reported in the incident and the situation at the camp is now under control.(GNS)
