Pulwama: The Principal District Judge, Pulwama, has issued summons to Aakash Coaching Institute, Rajbagh, Srinagar, in a defamation suit filed by Solace International School, Pulwama, after taking cognizance of the matter.

The case pertains to alleged misrepresentation by Aakash Institute, which is accused of falsely claiming credit for the Class 10 Kashmir Division topper who secured 100 percent marks. Court records state that the student was a regular full-time student of Solace International School throughout the 2024–25 academic session and achieved the result under the exclusive academic guidance of the school’s faculty.

The suit further states that the student joined Aakash Institute only after the declaration of Class 10 results for Class 11 coaching, and that the institute had no role whatsoever in the Class 10 academic achievement.

Solace International School, as per the news agency Kashmir News Trust has alleged academic piracy, unfair trade practice, misrepresentation and damage to institutional reputation, accusing the defendant of misleading parents, students and the public for commercial benefit.

The school has sought Rs 10 crore in damages, a permanent restraint on such academic claims, and a public apology along with clarification through print and social media platforms.

Court records also note that a legal notice dated January 16, 2026 was served earlier, and alleged non compliance prompted the filing of the suit. The matter is currently pending before the Principal District Judge, Pulwama. [KNT]
