Parihaspora: The Dean Student Welfare (DSW), SSM College of Engineering and Technology, in collaboration with Directorate of Internal Quality Assurance (DIQA) cell, organized a daylong event on the theme “Elegance of Womenhood” to mark ‘International Women’s Day’ here on Monday last.
In its inaugural speech, Mrs. Dilafrose Qazi, Vice Chairperson SSM College, remarked on the aspects of ‘equality’ in our day to day life. The speaker talked about the appalling condition of women while the world was ignorant about Islam and passionately delivered as ‘how the religion of Islam came as a saviour for women to ensure her overall upliftment.’
Other participants to the occasion including some renowned artists of different art forms, women attending the programme also spoke on issues grappling the womenfolk on a day-to-day basis.
The speakers among others included Sana Qazi, Dr. Nayeema Jan, Irfana Zargar, Shafiya Shafi, Soliha Shabir, Muntaha Baba, Sahiba Tariq Dar.
The event also showcased ‘Rouf’ – Kashmiri folk dance – by three girl students from the College besides a solo singing performance by their fellow student, Amreen – Kashmir Glory News.
