JAMMU, APRIL 20: The Committee on Ease of Doing Business and revision of the New Industrial Policy for Jammu and Kashmir held its first meeting with the stakeholders at Udyog Bhawan here today.
The Committee, chaired by Additional Chief Secretary, Finance, Shailendra Kumar, met the representatives and office bearers of various industrial and trade associations from the Jammu Division.
Committee members Vikramjit Singh, Commissioner Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department and Amitava Chatterjee, Managing Director & CEO, J&K Bank, attended the meeting.


This was the committee’s first stakeholder consultation on revising the J&K Industrial Policy and improving the Ease of Doing Business in the Union Territory. The next meeting will be held in Kashmir.
During the deliberations, industry representatives gave detailed feedback on a wide range of issues. Suggestions focused on regulatory simplification, reducing the compliance burden, improving access to finance, upgrading infrastructure and building mechanisms to attract fresh investment while supporting the growth of existing units.
The stakeholders also proposed specific amendments for incorporation in the new Industrial Policy.


The Committee underlined the importance of continuous stakeholder engagement in policy formulation and assured that all constructive suggestions would be examined. It stated that the forthcoming Industrial Policy will aim to create a competitive, transparent and investor-friendly ecosystem in Jammu and Kashmir.


The meeting was also attended by Director, Industries and Commerce-Jammu, Dr Arun Manhas; Chairman, Federation of Industries Jammu, Virender Jai ; Arun Gupta, President, Chamber of Commerce & Industry Jammu, Arun Gupta; National Chairman, D2C Industry Association, M A Alim; Vice President, CII, Sidhant Choudhary; Chairman ICC, Rahul Sahai; President-ASSOCHAM Manik Batra; Chairman FICCI, Rakesh Bhat; President BBIA Lalit Mahajan; President, PHDCCI Rakesh Wazir; Chairman, FICCI FLO, Varsha Bansal besides officers from the Directorate of Industries and Commerce.
