Srinagar, Nov 18 (GNS): A couple was among twelve civilians injured in a grenade blast in Kakapora area of South Kashmir’s Pulwama district on Wednesday.

A senior police officer told GNs that the militants lobbed grenade at the bunker of 41 Battalion CRPF in the area. However the device missed the target and exploded on roadside, leading to the injuries tpo twelve civilians. The injured were subsequently shifted to nearby hospital for treatment.

Three among the injured were shifted to SMHS hospital Srinagar and include Mohammad Shafi Dar (37) son of Ghulam Nabi, his wife Raja Begum (36) and Habibullah Sheikh (65) son of Noor Mohammad Shiekh, all residents of Kakpora Pulwama.

Soon after the attack whole area was cordoned off to nab the attackers. However when this report was filed, there was no information regarding any person being arrested in connection with the attack.

A police spokesman in a statement issued here said the attack took place at around 1745 hours
“Preliminary investigation revealed that militantshad hurled a grenade upon bunker of 41 Bn CRPF at Main Town Kakapora area of Pulwama. However, the grenade missed the intended target and exploded on road.In this incident twelve civilians received injuries.

All the injured have been evacuated to nearby hospital for the treatment of their injuries,” the spokesman said, adding, “Police has registered a case in this regard under relevant sections of law.”

He said investigation was in progress and officers continue to work to establish the full circumstances of this incident. (GNS)
