Surankote, Jun 14 (GNS): Police have filed an FIR in connection with the alleged manhandling of healthcare workers by a group of locals who objected to quarantining them in their area at Fazalabad here in Poonch district.
The three-member group including a Medical Officer, a Pharmacist and a Nursing Orderly was ordered to undergo 14-day quarantine at a health facility in Fazalabad, a fortnight after discharging duties at a COVID19 centre at TRC Surankote.
However soon after the arrival of the group to the centre, locals manhandled them and obstructed their way, promoting Block Medical Officer Surankote to lodge a complaint with concerned SDM. Subsequently, the BMO said, the group was to be called back to DAK bungalow for their “safety”.
After receiving the complaint, the SDM wrote a letter to SHO Surankote for filing an FIR against the persons involved in the incident.
The Station House Officer, Surankote told GNS that a case (FIR no. 80/2020) has been registered against at least twelve people who are allegedly involved in the incident. (GNS)
