DDC Polls: 11 Injured In Scuffles In Poonch

Poonch, Dec 19 (GNS): At least eleven persons were injured in two separate clashes between supporters of two contesting candidates at Polling station in Salwah in Mendhar-C and Mankote tehsil during the DDC elections on Saturday.  

Official sources told GNS that there was clash between supporters of an independent candidate, Mohd Ashfaq and a PAGD candidate Zeeshan Rana (NC) at Polling station at Mendhar-C.

While polling continued at the polling station despite the clash, the injured were shifted to SDH Mendhar for first aid. Some of the injured been identified as Mohd Khaliq (56), Niaz Ahmed, Ifthikar Ahmed (Provisional NC Student union President) and Naseem Akhter, all residents of Salwah. 

Another scuffle was reported between supporters of independent candidate Mohammad Ashraf Sabir and Congress candidate Imran Zaffar at Mankote.   

Officials said that independent candidate Mohd Ashraf Sabir and Ifthikar Ahmed were later shifted to GMC Rajouri. BMO Mendhar Dr  Parvaiz Ahmed Khan confirmed that the duo has been referred to Rajouri.

SHO Mendhar Manzoor Kohli told GNS that cases have been lodged into the incident. (GNS)
