New Delhi, May 5: The Delhi High Court on Tuesday granted permission to jailed Member of Parliament Engineer Rashid to visit his ailing father at All India Institute of Medical Sciences (AIIMS) under strict police escort.

The court allowed the visit on humanitarian grounds, directing authorities to ensure adequate security arrangements during the movement and stay of the MP. It also specified that the visit should be time-bound and conducted strictly under supervision.

Engineer Rashid, who is currently in judicial custody, had approached the court seeking permission to meet his father, who is undergoing treatment at AIIMS. The plea highlighted the critical health condition of his father and requested temporary relief to allow the visit.

The High Court, while considering the urgency and medical condition involved, approved the request with conditions, emphasizing adherence to security protocols.

Further details regarding the duration and modalities of the visit are expected to be finalized by the concerned authorities.(KNC)
