Srinagar, June 10: The Delhi High Court on Wednesday granted bail to Kashmiri human rights activist Khurram Parvez in a case registered by the National Investigation Agency (NIA) under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA), LiveLaw reported.
A Division Bench of Justice Navin Chawla and Justice Ravinder Dudeja allowed Parvez’s appeal against a trial court order that had rejected his bail plea in December 2024. The High Court granted bail subject to certain conditions, while the detailed order is awaited.
Parvez was arrested by the NIA in November 2021 in connection with a case relating to alleged terror funding and conspiracy. The agency has accused him of involvement in activities linked to banned organisations and part of a larger conspiracy concerning terrorist acts and funding.

During the proceedings, counsel appearing for Parvez challenged the allegations and argued that the prosecution had failed to establish a prima facie case warranting continued incarceration. The defence also disputed the NIA’s claims and sought his release on bail.
The trial court had earlier declined to grant bail, observing that the allegations against the accused required examination during trial. Parvez subsequently approached the Delhi High Court against the order.
A prominent rights activist from Jammu and Kashmir, Parvez has been associated with rights advocacy and documentation efforts in the region for several years.
With the High Court now granting bail, the detailed judgment is expected to provide the reasoning behind the decision and outline the conditions imposed for his release, according to the report.
