DG, Women & Child Development visits Kupwara, participates in VBSY at Lidderwan Block Qadirabad

KUPWARA: An event under Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY), aimed to attain saturation of flagship schemes of the government, was today organized at Government Higher Secondary School Lidderwan, Block Qadirabad.

The mega event was chaired by Director General, Women and Child Development Department (J&K), Mir Tariq Ali, who visited Lidderwan during his visit to Kupwara.

ADC Kupwara, Gh.Nabi Bhat; Programme Officer ICDS Kupwara, Hakeem Tanveer; Tehsildar Trehgam, District Officers and field functionaries of various departments were present on the occasion.

Addressing the gathering, Director General (DG) Women and Child Development (J&K), said that the Government has reached the doorsteps of people through VBSY, Block Diwas and Public Darbar like outreach programs. 

He said that earlier people used line-up in queues outside secretariat to highlight their issues but now the government is knocking at the doors of people urging them to come forward and take benefits of welfare schemes. He further said that it is the responsibility of the people to help the administration in identifying the most deserving people so that benefits of welfare schemes trickle down to the deserving sections of society.

The chief guest congratulated people for participating in large numbers in the Viksit Bharat Sankalp Yatra (VBSY) despite cold weather conditions. 

He said that the Yatra aimed to ensure saturation and awareness of the schemes among the people. He added that the Yatra’s primary goal is to ensure every citizen benefits from government flagship schemes. He highlighted the need and role of different line departments in providing on the spot services to the people so that people can avail the benefits of different schemes at their door steps.

Mir Tariq handed over the sanction letters of the Agriculture Department and engagement letters of AWW to the candidates. 

Earlier, the DG inspected the stalls set up by various departments to showcase their achievements and services. He also interacted with the beneficiaries and scheme implementing agencies and appreciated their efforts. He also took part in plantation drive along with the other Officers.

The event witnessed screening of the Prime Minister’s message played through the Information Education and Communication (IEC) van. Mir Tariq along with the officers of District Administration and locals actively took part in the Viksit Bharat pledge, reaffirming their commitment towards development of the nation.

The event featured a segment called ‘Meri Kahani Meri Zubaani’, where the beneficiaries of various schemes such as NRLM (Umeed), SBM, MGNREGA, ICDS, Food department, HADP of Agriculture, Ayushman Golden Card shared their success stories and experiences.

Local residents while hailing the efforts of district administration apprised about some important issues in the area which included the demanded NTPHC for the area, Fire Service station for Qadirabad block, SRTC Bus service from Kupwara to Zurhama, J&K Bank branch for the area and construction of a playground in Lidderwan and allotment of land for it.

While replying to the demand for identification of land for the playground at Lidderwan, Tehsildar Trehgam announced that the land for the construction of the playground has been identified and land transfer documentation is underway.

Cultural programs unfolded, showcasing the local dance and Kashmiri Ruff by the students of local higher secondary school. Students also presented a skit depicting harmful effects of drugs on the youth.

VBSY has solidified its role as a catalyst for positive change, instilling hope and progress throughout District Kupwara.
