Defence Minister Says Even Smaller Nations Can Inflict Heavy Damage Through Advanced Weapons and Modern Tactics; Addresses Air Force Academy Graduation Parade

Hyderabad, Jun 13 :Defence Minister Rajnath Singh on Saturday said emerging technologies have fundamentally altered the nature of warfare, asserting that armed forces personnel must remain mentally prepared to face evolving and unconventional threats on future battlefields.

Addressing the Combined Graduation Parade at the Indian Air Force Academy in Hyderabad, as per news agency JKNS, Singh said that traditional military advantages enjoyed by major powers are diminishing as smaller nations can now inflict significant damage using advanced weapons and specialised tactics.

According to reports, the Defence Minister observed that modern warfare is undergoing rapid transformation due to technological advancements, making preparedness and adaptability essential for military personnel.

“Earlier, it seemed that big powers had a decisive edge on the battlefield. But now, even smaller powers can cause heavy losses with their small but dangerous weapons and new tactics. My purpose in telling you all this is that you should be mentally ready for any form of warfare,” Singh said.

Congratulating the newly commissioned officers, particularly female pilots inducted into the Indian Air Force, Singh said their inclusion further strengthens the force and reflects the growing role of women in national defence.

He said the induction of women officers makes the Air Force more balanced, robust and representative of India’s inclusive values.

The Defence Minister also highlighted the Indian Air Force’s role in humanitarian assistance and disaster relief operations, as well as rescue missions conducted during crises involving both Indian and foreign nationals.

He noted that through such humanitarian missions, the Air Force has projected India’s culture, values and commitment to global responsibility.

Singh urged the young officers to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, discipline and dedication while serving the nation in an increasingly complex security environment. (JKNS)
