Kulgam, June 23: Four tourists from Uttar Pradesh sustained injuries in a three-vehicle collision at Khudwani Bypass in south Kashmir’s Kulgam district on Tuesday, officials said.

According to officials, the accident occurred when a Tata Mobile vehicle bearing registration number JK19A-0758, driven by Tariq Hussain Sheikh, son of Ghulam Rasool Sheikh, a resident of Sumber Ramban, collided with a Swift car bearing registration number UP31CF-0853.

The Swift car was being driven by Mohammad Shoaib Ansari, son of Rais-ud-Din Ansari, a resident of Nowrenabad, Lakhimpur in Uttar Pradesh.

Following the initial collision, a bus bearing registration number JK02Y-0885, driven by Parshan Kumar, son of Mila Ram, a resident of Old Rehari, Jammu, also became involved in the accident and collided with the Tata Mobile.

Officials said four occupants travelling in the Swift car sustained injuries in the mishap. They were identified as Shoaib, Shehbaz, Sahab and Iftikhar, all residents of Lakhimpur, Uttar Pradesh.

The injured were shifted to a nearby hospital for treatment. Officials said their condition was stated to be stable.

The Swift car sustained extensive damage in the accident, while the bus and the Tata Mobile were partially damaged.

Police have taken cognizance of the incident and initiated further proceedings to ascertain the circumstances leading to the accident. [KNT]
