Jammu, Nov 9: The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh has ordered correction in the name of a respondent officer and fixed November 27, 2025 as the next hearing date in the MLA Mehraj Din Malik’s detention case.
As per news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, The court allowed the request to correct the name of respondent No. 3 to S. Harvinder Singh (IAS) instead of S. Harjinder Singh (IAS). The respondents raised no objection, and the Registry was directed to update the cause title accordingly.
The petitioner’s counsel informed the court that the plea seeking directions to ensure the detenue’s participation in the 4th Session of the J&K Legislative Assembly had become infructuous due to the passage of time. The court recorded the submission and disposed of the application.
During the hearing of HCP No. 139/2025, senior counsel Sunil Sethi submitted that the UT administration had filed its counter-affidavit. He further requested that the reply of respondent No. 3 be treated as the counter-affidavit. The court accepted the request.
The court directed the Registry to place the affidavits on record after removing any defects. It also ordered that the detention record be produced on the next hearing date.
Copies of the counter-affidavit and reply were handed over to petitioner’s counsel, Mr. Sheikh Shakeel Ahmed, in open court.
As per the order, the matter will now be taken up by the High Court on 27 November 2025. (KNC)
