Court Issues Notice to Respondents; Four Weeks’ Time Granted for Reply

Jammu, Apr 29 : The High Court of Jammu & Kashmir and Ladakh at Jammu has issued notice in a petition seeking compensation of Rs. 50 lakh over allegations of false implication in a rape case and illegal detention.

According to the court order available with news agency Kashmir News Corner — KNC, the petition titled Mohd. Hunef and Another vs UT of J&K and Others came up for hearing before Hon’ble Ms. Justice Moksha Khajuria Kazmi.

Through the petition, the applicants have sought directions to the respondents for payment of compensation, alleging that they were falsely implicated in a rape case and subjected to illegal detention.

During the proceedings, counsel for respondent Nos. 1 to 3 waived notice and sought time to file a reply. The Court granted four weeks’ time for filing the response with an advance copy to the counsel for the petitioners.

The Court further directed issuance of notice to respondent Nos. 4 to 6, returnable within four weeks, subject to completion of requisite service formalities within one week.

The matter has been listed for further hearing on June 1, 2026. (KNC)
