Srinagar, June 30(GNS): The Meteorological Centre Srinagar on Tuesday said hot and dry weather with heatwave-like conditions will continue across Jammu and Kashmir till June 30, before pre-monsoon showers bring relief.
An official of MeT told GNS that weather will remain generally hot and dry till afternoon, with a possibility of light rain and thunder at a few places late afternoon and at many places towards late night and morning hours.
Pre-monsoon showers are expected in the plains of Jammu and adjoining areas mainly during late night and morning hours over the next 24 to 48 hours.
From July 1 to 5, one or two spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers are likely at many places. Heavy rainfall, brief intense showers, thunder, and gusty winds may occur at a few places between July 2 and 4.
From July 6 to 8, weather will remain generally hot and humid with brief spells of light to moderate rain and thundershowers at scattered to many places.
The MeT has warned that heavy rainfall or intense showers may trigger flash floods and landslides or mudslides at a few places in Jammu Division and adjoining South Kashmir. Temporary waterlogging is also likely in some low-lying areas on July 2 and 3.
People have been advised to stay away from nallas, streams, and landslide-prone areas.(GNS)
