Srinagar, July 22 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir received widespread rainfall in the last 24 hours, with Gulmarg in Kashmir and Kathua in Jammu recording the highest precipitation, according to data compiled till 8:30 AM Wednesday.

As per figures shared by independent weather forecaster Faizan Arif, Kashmir Weather, several parts of the Valley saw moderate to heavy showers.

In the Kashmir region, Gulmarg received the maximum of 55.0 mm, followed by Baramulla with 37.5 mm and Tangmarg with 28.2 mm. Other notable recordings include Pahalgam 23.8 mm, Lolab 22.4 mm, Awantipora 21.0 mm, Nowgam Handwara 21.2 mm, Qazigund 19.6 mm, and Bumhama Kupwara 19.8 mm.

Srinagar city recorded 8.5 mm, while Srinagar Airport logged 5.9 mm. Kokernag received 17.0 mm, Kupwara 13.0 mm, Pulwama 13.4 mm, Shopian 11.0 mm, Kulgam 10.2 mm, Sopore 10.2 mm, Sonamarg 10.0 mm and Asham 10.0 mm. Charar-i-Sharief recorded 9.4 mm, Khudwani 9.5 mm, Sangam and Wular 8.5 mm and 8.0 mm respectively, Batkoot 15.5 mm, Verinag 5.3 mm, Babapora 11.4 mm and Ganderbal 7.0 mm. Data for Anantnag, Budgam and Bandipora was not available.

In the Jammu region, Kathua recorded the highest rainfall in J&K at 153.4 mm. Samba received 133.0 mm, Udhampur 132.6 mm and Jammu Airport 67.7 mm. Jammu city logged 62.1 mm, while Katra received 58.5 mm. Poonch recorded 51.0 mm, Ramban 49.0 mm, Batote 46.1 mm, Reasi 44.5 mm, Rajouri 40.8 mm, Bhaderwah 36.8 mm, Banihal 25.3 mm, Doda 24.0 mm and Kishtwar 23.0 mm.

In Ladakh, Leh recorded 5.2 mm of rain. Data for Kargil was not available.

Authorities have advised people in low-lying and landslide-prone areas to remain vigilant in view of the continued wet spell. (GNS)
