April 30: Continuing its drive against drug menace under Nasha Mukt Jammu Kashmir Abhiyan, J&K Police have arrested 03 drug peddlers in Anantnag & Handwara and recovered contraband substance from their possession, besides recovered Heroin-like Substance in residential house in Pulwama.
In Anantnag, a police party from Police Post Sangam during routine naka checking at GB Khalil, Sangam intercepted & apprehended one suspicious person identified as Mushtaq Ahmad Dar son of Mohammad Akbar Dar resident of Renzipora, Awantipora. Upon his search, approximately 534 grams of charas powder-like substance was recovered from his possession.
In Pulwama, on a specific information, a police party of PP Newa conducted a raid at village Urwan at the residence of one individual identified as Ashiq Ahmad Rather son of Gh. Ahmad Rather. During the course of search, a heroin-like substance weighing approximately 11 grams was recovered and seized on the spot after completing all legal formalities.
In Handwara, a vigilant police party of Police Station Vilgam, while conducting routine naka checking at Dingri, intercepted a suspicious vehicle bearing registration No. JK09-9566. Upon thorough search of the vehicle, driven by Zahoor Ahmad Bhat S/o Mohd Sultan Bhat R/o Gushi Kupwara, a Charas-like substance was recovered from inside. Acting swiftly, the police team took the accused along with the vehicle into custody. In another successful operation, a police team from PP Magam under the jurisdiction of Police Station Handwara intercepted a suspicious individual at Ucher Bumdagar Crossing. On spotting the naka party, the individual attempted to flee, raising suspicion. Demonstrating alertness and tactical efficiency, the police team apprehended the suspect after a brief chase. During personal search, a significant quantity of Charas-like substance was recovered from his possession. The accused has been identified as Inayatullah Khan S/o Hamidullah Khan R/o Ucher Magam.
Regarding the incidents, cases under relevant section of law have been registered at respective police stations and investigations have been initiated.
