J&K Assembly Autumn Session to Begin September 21; Members Asked to Submit Questions, Bills and Resolutions

Srinagar, August 12 : The Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly will convene for its Autumn Session 2026-27 in Srinagar from September 21, 2026, following a summons issued by Lieutenant Governor Manoj Sinha under Section 18(1) of the Jammu and Kashmir Reorganisation Act, 2019.

According to the summons issued by the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly Secretariat, the Lieutenant Governor has summoned the Legislative Assembly to meet at Srinagar on Monday, September 21, 2026, at 10:00 AM.

The summons, dated August 12, 2026, has been issued to all Members of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly, directing them to attend the session at the appointed date, time and place.

Members Asked to Submit Questions, Bills and Resolutions

In a separate bulletin issued by the Assembly Secretariat, legislators have been asked to submit notices through the NeVA platform of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly or through the official email of the Assembly Secretary.

As per the bulletin, members may submit not more than four starred and four unstarred questions, in relaxation of Rule 32 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business, by or before August 25, 2026.

Members have also been permitted to submit not more than one Bill, in relaxation of Sub-rule (3) of Rule 65, by or before August 25, 2026.

Besides, legislators may submit not more than two resolutions under Rule 174 of the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business by or before September 5, 2026.

Committee Meetings Suspended From August 22

The Legislative Assembly Secretariat has also issued a circular suspending meetings and other affairs of the Financial and other Committees of the House with effect from August 22, 2026, until further orders.

The decision has been taken in view of the commencement of the Autumn Session 2026-27 from September 21.

The circular has been issued by order of the Hon’ble Speaker of the Jammu and Kashmir Legislative Assembly.

Governance and Public Issues Expected to Dominate Session

The announcement sets the stage for the forthcoming Assembly session, where legislators are expected to raise a wide range of issues concerning governance, development, public welfare, administration, infrastructure and matters of public importance.

The session is also expected to provide an important platform for members to seek answers from the Government on issues affecting the people of Jammu and Kashmir and to bring public concerns before the House.

The Assembly Secretariat has directed all concerned members and officials to make necessary arrangements in accordance with the Rules of Procedure and Conduct of Business for the forthcoming session.(KNC)
