May 24: Continuing its sustained crackdown against drug trafficking and the narcotics network, J&K Police in Anantnag achieved a significant success by apprehending two drug peddlers during naka checking and recovering a substantial quantity of contraband substance.
During the checking, a police party intercepted an Eon vehicle bearing registration No. JK04D-2959. Upon thorough search of the vehicle, police recovered 4 kilograms and 475 grams of charas-like substance, wrapped in corn husk and cleverly concealed in the cavities of both front doors of the vehicle. Additionally, cash amounting to ₹50,000 was also recovered from their possession. The arrested accused have been identified as Sajad Ahmad Bhat son of Gh. Ahmad Bhat resident of Dedmeribagh, Chadoora, Budgam and Abdul Gani Dar son of Ali Mohammad Dar resident of Tulkhan, Bijbehara.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 138/2026 under Sections 8/20, 29 of the NDPS Act has been registered at the concerned Police Station Bijbehara and investigation has been taken up to unravel the forward and backward links of the narcotics network.
