Srinagar: In a significant news for Shopian dwellers, the historic Jamia Masjid in main town has been named as ‘Beautiful Heritage Place’ under the ‘City Beauty Competition, 2024, by Ministry of Housing & Urban Affairs.

Taking to micro-blogging site ‘X’, Jammu and Kashmir Housing & Urban Development – JKHUDD, wrote; “We’re Thrilled to Announce the Winners of City Beauty Competition (CBC) 2024 by Ministry of Housing and Urban Affairs! Congratulations to all the Cities. Keep Shining Bright!”

While the Chand Nagar in Jammu ranked on top of the list of ‘City Beauty Competition’ in ‘Ward Category’, Raj Bagh in Srinagar on the other hand ranked second and Hospital Ward in Tangmarg of Baramulla on third.
Similarly in ‘City Category’, Polo View Street in Srinagar was recognized as ‘Beautiful Market Space’, the Jhelum Riverfront in Srinagar was acknowledged as ‘Beautiful Waterfront’ and Municipal Park Kunzer in Tangmarg Baramulla as ‘Beautiful Green Space’.
