Srinagar, May 22: The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau (ACB) on Thursday registered a disproportionate assets case against an Assistant Executive Engineer (AEE) posted in Hydraulic Sub-Division Chhatroo, Kishtwar, for allegedly accumulating assets beyond his known sources of income.
According to officials, FIR No. 01/2026 was registered at Police Station ACB Doda under Sections 13(1)(b) and 13(2) of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988 against Ashiq Hussain Rather, presently serving as AEE in Hydraulic Sub-Division Chhatroo, Kishtwar.
An ACB spokesperson said the action followed a verification conducted by ACB DKR into allegations that the officer had amassed huge movable and immovable properties in his own name as well as in the names of his family members.
During the probe, investigators reportedly found that the accused was in possession of a five-storey residential house at Court Road Doda, land parcels at Udrana Bhaderwah and Sunjawan Jammu, besides sizeable bank deposits, fixed deposits, expensive electronic items and jewellery.
“The assets acquired by the suspect were found to be disproportionate to his known sources of income, suggesting illicit enrichment during his service tenure,” the spokesperson said.
After registration of the case, the ACB secured search warrants from the competent court and conducted searches at the residential and official premises of the accused in Doda and Kishtwar in the presence of magistrates and independent witnesses.
Officials said the investigation is in progress and further details are awaited.(KNC)
