Kishtwar: Kishtwar Police have registered a case under the POCSO Act and arrested an accused for allegedly sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl.
The accused has been identified as Imran Hossain, son of Shamsuddin, resident of Bhugrana Badhat, Tehsil Drabshalla, District Kishtwar.
SSP Kishtwar Naresh Singh, JKPS, said that a written complaint was received at Police Post Drabshalla from the complainant, alleging sexual assault of her granddaughter. Acting promptly, FIR No. 149/2026 under Sections 7/8/11/12 of the Protection of Children from Sexual Offences Act was registered at Police Station Kishtwar.
A special police team led by SHO Kishtwar, along with ICPP Drabshalla and other officials, under the supervision of DySP Headquarters Kishtwar, arrested the accused.
Police said further investigation is underway and legal proceedings are being carried out as per law.
