They told GNS that a Mahindra XUV300 bearing registration number JK09C-1649 was travelling from Uri towards Nambla when it met with an accident near Syedpora bridge. “The vehicle reportedly skidded off the road and rolled down into the Hajipeer Nallah, resulting in death of a woman and injuries to the vehicle driver.”

“Immediately after the incident, local residents, volunteer team Nambla, and police personnel rushed to the spot and launched a rescue operation during which the body of the woman was recovered from the nallah, while the injured driver was shifted to Sub-District Hospital (SDH) Uri for treatment,” officials said.

The officials identified the deceased as Mubeena Bano, daughter of Kabir Ahmad Parray, a resident of Balkote, and the injured as Sajad Tariq, son of Mohammad Tariq, a resident of Nowpora Karnah, who is stated to be in a stable condition.

A senior police official confirmed the incident to GNS, adding that a case has been registered and further investigation into the cause of the accident is underway. (GNS)
