Srinagar, July 31(GNS):The Jammu-Srinagar National Highway remained closed on Friday due to restoration work between Jakheni in Udhampur and Banihal in Ramban, Traffic Police Headquarters said.

Officials told GNS that with the IMD forecasting more rainfall in the coming days, authorities have urged commuters to check road status before travelling.

“People are advised to undertake journey only after confirming the status of road from TCU Srinagar, Ramban and Jammu,” officials said. Updates are also available on J&K Traffic Police’s Twitter handle and Facebook page.

Jammu-Srinagar NH-44, Restoration work is still underway between Jakheni and Banihal. The decision on allowing vehicular movement will be taken tomorrow after clearance from NHAI and assessment of road conditions.
Commuters are advised to avoid travelling on NH-44 until the highway is declared safe. People have been urged not to pay heed to rumours.

Kishtwar-Sinthan-Anantnag NH-244 , Subject to fair weather and NHIDCL clearance, only LMVs and private cars will be allowed.From PP Parana towards Anantnag: 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM, From Daksum towards Kishtwar: 9:00 AM to 4:00 PM.No vehicle will be allowed after cut-off timings.

Srinagar-Sonamarg-Gumari (SSG) Road:LMVs will be allowed from both sides up to 1:00 PM. HMVs from Sonamarg to Kargil: 12:00 PM to 5:00 PM. No movement after 5:00 PM.
Motorists are advised to carry anti-skid chains.

Mughal Road (NH-701A), LMVs followed by HMVs up to 10 tyres allowed from both sides.

From Chandimarh (Baffliaz) towards Shopian and from Herpora (Shopian) towards Poonch: 7:00 AM to 6:00 PM
No vehicle after 6:00 PM.

Traffic Police has asked people to confirm road status from Traffic Control Units at Jammu, Ramban and Srinagar before starting their journey.(GNS)
