SSP Says Arrested Person Was Key Handler Of Saifullah Group In Chatroo
Kishtwar, July 21 (GNS): Jammu and Kashmir Police have arrested another key accused allegedly involved in providing support to foreign terrorists in Chatroo area of Kishtwar, officials said on Tuesday.
Senior Superintendent of Police Kishtwar, Naresh Singh (JKPS), said the arrest was made in connection with FIR No. 03/2026 registered at Police Station Chatroo under relevant sections of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita, UAPA and the Arms Act.
The arrested has been identified as Mohd Rafiq Naik, son of Ghulam Ali Naik, resident of Dwather, Singhpur.
According to police, preliminary investigation revealed that Naik was allegedly acting as the main handler of the Saifullah Group in Chatroo and had provided active assistance to the foreign terrorist group operating in the region.
With this, three persons have now been arrested in the case. Earlier, Muneer Ahmed and Mashkoor Ahmed, both residents of Chatroo, were taken into custody for their alleged role in facilitating terrorists.
SSP Singh said further investigation is underway to ascertain the full extent of the accused’s involvement, his network, and links with the foreign terrorist group.
J&K Police reiterated its zero-tolerance policy towards terrorism and its support ecosystem. The force said it remains committed to maintaining peace and security in the region and urged citizens to share any information related to anti-national activities with law enforcement agencies. (GNS)
