June 08: In a major action under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Sopore Police today attached illegally acquired properties worth over ₹66 lakh belonging to two notorious drug peddlers under the provisions of Chapter VA of the NDPS Act, 1985.

The attached properties belong to Zahoor Ahmad Shah son of Ghulam Mohammad Shah resident of Hanfia Colony, Arampora Sopore, involved in FIR No. 143/2015 of PS Sopore and FIR No. 24/2023 of PS Tarzoo under the NDPS Act and Manzoor Ahmad Baba son of Sanullah Baba resident of Magraypora Sopore, involved in FIR No. 184/2023 of PS Sopore under the NDPS Act. During financial investigations conducted under the NDPS Act, Sopore Police identified assets allegedly acquired through proceeds of illicit narcotics trafficking. The properties were found to be disproportionate to the known sources of income of the accused persons.

Accordingly, acting under Section 68F of the NDPS Act, freezing/attachment orders were issued pending forfeiture proceedings before the Competent Authority. The attached properties include; Residential house, bathroom block, fenced land measuring 13 marlas at Hanfia Colony, Arampora, and a Scooty bearing registration No. JK05L-1635 belonging to Zahoor Ahmad Shah, valued at ₹40,82,717 and Residential house at Magraypora and land measuring 01 Kanal 06 Marlas along with plinth and construction material at Hathlangoo belonging to Manzoor Ahmad Baba, valued at ₹25,73,567.

The attachment notices were served upon the accused persons in the presence of independent witnesses after completion of all legal formalities. The action forms part of J&K Police’s sustained strategy to target the financial infrastructure of drug trafficking networks and dismantle the narcotics ecosystem operating in the district. Several more properties linked to drug peddlers have been identified and further attachment proceedings are underway.

J&K Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and remains committed to taking strict action against all those involved in narcotics-related activities under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan.
