May 24: In a decisive move against repeat drug offenders, J&K Police have booked two notorious drug peddlers under the PIT NDPS and lodged them in jails outside the Valley to break their local drug network.
The individuals have been identified as Feroz Ahmad Bhat son of Ab Karim Bhat resident of Akingam, Achabal and Mohammad Ashraf Dar son of Abdul Rehman Dar resident of Tulkhan, Bijbehara. Both were found to be repeatedly involved in drug peddling activities, posing a serious threat to the youth of the district despite multiple previous NDPS cases. After obtaining formal detention orders from the competent authority, Feroz Ahmad Bhat has been lodged in District Jail Rajouri, while Mohammad Ashraf Dar has been lodged in District Jail Poonch. The action has been taken to ensure that the chain of drug supply is dismantled and the peddlers are prevented from continuing their illegal activities from within the district.
J&K Police reiterates its zero-tolerance policy against drug trafficking and is committed to taking strict legal action against all such elements. General public is appealed to share information related to drug peddling in their areas. The identity of informants will be kept confidential.
