Srinagar, Sept 25 : Union Minister Dr Jitendra Singh on Thursday said Jammu and Kashmir has the potential to become a key driver of India’s innovation-led growth as the country moves towards “Destination 2047.”
Speaking at the launch of the ATL Sarthi and Frontier Region Programme of Atal Innovation Mission at Kashmir University, Singh announced the setting up of 500 new Atal Tinkering Labs in J&K with an investment of ₹100 crore — the largest share among frontier regions.
He highlighted that J&K, with its vast Himalayan resources and emerging lavender-based startups, is now witnessing youth-led entrepreneurship and innovation. Singh said the new labs would expose students to robotics, AI, and 3D printing, preparing them to be the “torchbearers of a developed India.”
The event was attended by Lt Governor Manoj Sinha, CM Omar Abdullah, Education Minister Sakina Masood, University VC Prof. Nilofer Khan, and AIM Mission Director Dr. Deepak Bagla.(KINS)
