June 14: Awantipora Police has registered a case under the provisions of the POCSO Act following a complaint alleging sexual assault of a minor child.

Acting promptly on the complaint, Police Station Awantipora registered FIR No. 143/2026 under of the POCSO Act against the accused person and initiated investigation into the matter. The Child Welfare Committee (CWC), Pulwama was informed immediately as per prescribed procedures. A police team facilitated the medical examination of the victim child and completed all necessary legal and procedural formalities. Medical evidence has been collected and secured as part of the investigation.The accused has been identified as Shakir Ahmad Bandha, resident of Dangerpora, Awantipora. Further investigation in the case is underway.

Police remains committed to ensuring the safety and protection of children and urges the public to promptly report any crimes against minors to the nearest police station.
