SRINAGAR, MAY 16: National Referee & Jury Course organised by the Indian Pencak Silat Federation commenced today at the Sher-i-Kashmir Indoor Sports Complex amidst an enthusiastic gathering of sports officials, coaches, referees, and martial arts enthusiasts from across the country.


The four-day course, being held from May 16 to May 19, 2026, is supported by the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council and aims to strengthen technical standards and officiating excellence in the sport of Pencak Silat in India.
The opening ceremony witnessed the presence of the Secretary, Nuzhat Gul as the Chief Guest, while internationally renowned educator from the International Pencak Silat Federation, Titih Hayati, attended as the Guest of Honour. The ceremony was also attended by several dignitaries and senior officials associated with martial arts and sports development.


More than 200 coaches, referees, and technical officials from different states and union territories of India are participating in the prestigious course, making it one of the largest technical gatherings of Pencak Silat professionals in the country.
The programme is expected to provide participants with updated knowledge of international refereeing standards, jury systems, and modern officiating practices under expert guidance.
Addressing the gathering, Nuzhat Gul appreciated the efforts of the organisers for choosing Srinagar as the host city and emphasised the importance of such national-level technical courses in promoting professionalism and sporting culture among youth. She reiterated the commitment of the Jammu and Kashmir Sports Council towards supporting emerging sports and creating opportunities for athletes and officials alike.


The event reflects the growing popularity of Pencak Silat in India and highlights Srinagar’s emergence as a vibrant destination for national sporting events and martial arts activities.
