Srinagar, Nov 7 (GNS): One person died while four others sustained critical injuries in a fatal car accident along Srinagar-Leh highway at Haji Qabar Sonamarg area of central-Kashmir’s Ganderbal district on Saturday.

Reports reaching GNS said that an Alto 800 car bearing Registration number JK-16A 6111 was on way from Nilgrath to Kullan when the driver presumably lost control over the vehicle resulting the cab falling into nallah Sindh at Haji Qabar Shitkadi area of Sonamarg in the district.

In the incident, driver of the vehicle died on the spot even as four others on-board passengers sustained critical injuries.

Confirming the incident, a police official said that the accident took place this morning, resulting in death of the cab driver Suhail Ahmad Bhat son of Abdul Raheem Bhat of Rayeel Gund and injuries to four other passengers.

The official identified injured persons as; Asif Hussain Balti son of Mohammad Hussain Balti, Mohammad Mukhtar Balti son of Mohammad Ali Balti both residents of Nilgrath Sonamarg and Sakeena Begum wife of Mohammad Qasim Balti and her baby-girl Nooriya Bano from Kullan Ganderbal.

Off the injured persons, the mother-baby duo was discharged after receiving first-aid at a nearby health facility while as Asif Hussain and Mohammad Mukhtar were referred to different hospitals to receive advanced treatment, the official said.

We have registered a case into the incident and further investigation will be taken up accordingly, the official added. (GNS)
