May 10: Continuing its sustained campaign against drug trafficking under the ongoing Nasha Mukt Jammu and Kashmir Abhiyan, Police in Pulwama achieved a significant success by arresting a drug peddler and conducting intensive search operations in Rajpora to dismantle local narcotics networks.
During naka checking laid at Frasipora Link Road by Police Station Pulwama, a suspicious individual was intercepted and subsequently searched. During the search, police recovered approximately 5.900 kilograms of poppy straw-like substance concealed in a nylon bag from his possession. The accused has been identified as Mukhtar Ahmad Rather son of Gh Rasool Rather resident of Frasipora.
In this connection, a case vide FIR No. 82/2026 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Pulwama and further investigation has been initiated.
Meanwhile, as part of the district’s ongoing anti-drug drive, Police Station Rajpora conducted an intensive search operation in Rajpora area. During the operation, residential houses of suspected drug peddlers were searched to deter narcotics trafficking and maintain strict vigil over individuals involved in drug-related activities.
The coordinated actions reflect J&K Police’s continued preventive and enforcement measures aimed at curbing drug abuse, dismantling local drug networks, and ensuring a safer society free from the menace of narcotics.
