April 28: In continuation of strict enforcement measures under the ongoing 100-Day Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan, Police in Sopore, in coordination with the Drug Control authorities, carried out two separate enforcement actions against illegal pharmaceutical practices across Police District Sopore.
During a checking drive at Ningli Bala, Sopore, a chemist shop was found operating without a valid drug licence in violation of the Drugs & Cosmetics Act. Acting promptly, the Drug Inspector sealed the premises on the spot, and legal proceedings have been initiated against the proprietor under relevant provisions of law.
In another action at Sangrama, a significant quantity of Pregabalin tablets stored in excess of authorised limits was seized in coordination with the Drug Control Department, and the licence of the concerned shop has been temporarily suspended. These actions reflect intensified monitoring of medical stores to prevent misuse and illegal sale of pharmaceutical drugs.
J&K Police reiterated that no invalidly licensed or unlicensed medical store will be allowed to operate, and strict action will be taken against any violation involving illegal sale or storage of medicines and psychotropic substances. The public is advised to purchase medicines only from authorised and licensed chemists.
J&K Police reaffirmed their commitment to strict enforcement under the Nasha Mukt Jammu & Kashmir Abhiyaan to prevent misuse of drugs and ensure a safer, healthier society.
