KPDCL Announces Power Shutdowns in Srinagar Areas

June 02: Continuing sustained drive against illegal mining and unauthorized extraction of minerals, J&K Police in Shopian and Pulwama districts conducted multiple operations, resulting in the seizure of 15 vehicles/machines and registration of 06 FIRs against those involved in illegal mining activities.

In Shopian, police teams from Police Station Shopian and Police Post Keegam seized 06 tractors and 02 tippers involved in the illegal extraction and transportation of minerals from Rambiara Nallah and Hermain areas without valid royalty documents. Accordingly, FIR Nos. 100/2026, 102/2026, and 103/2026 were registered at Police Station Shopian and investigations have been initiated.

In Pulwama, police teams during domination patrols in the areas of Nallah Rambi Ara and adjoining locations seized 03 dumpers, 01 tipper, and 03 JCB machines involved in illegal extraction and transportation of mineral material. The machinery was found actively engaged in mining operations without requisite permissions. Consequently, FIR Nos. 70/2026, 71/2026, and 86/2026 were registered, and investigations have been taken up.

J&K Police remains committed to safeguarding natural resources and taking strict legal action against individuals involved in illegal mining and related offences. The general public is urged to report any such unlawful activities.
