Srinagar, June 3 (GNS): Inspector General of Police Kashmir range Vijay Kumar Wednesday identified  a top commander of the Jaish-e- Muhammad as the “mastermind” of  the car bomb which was foiled by security forces in Pulwama district on May 28.
Addressing a press conference at Police Control Room here, Kumar said that Abdul Rehman alias Fauji bhai, a resident of Pakistan’s Multan city, was among three Jaish militants killed in an encounter in Kangan village.
Kumar said Rehman, an IED expert and veteran of the Afghan war, was active in South Kashmir since 2017 in Kashmir.
He said the forces were on the lookout for two other IED vehicles fabricated by Rehman.”He wasn’t the Jaish’s only IED expert. There is one who goes by the name of Waleed Bhai and is active in Kulgam and another Pakistani militant who is known as Lambu Bhai,” he said, according to GNS.
The identity of two other  militants killed in the gunfight was being ascertained, he said.”We have called some people to PCR for their identification,” he said, adding if they turn out be locals their parents will be allowed to participate in their last rites in Baramulla district.
Kumar said there was no proof yet of Rehman being related to Jaish chief Maulana Masood Azhar. (GNS)
