Srinagar, July 9: m The Meteorological department Srinagar has forecast hot and humid weather across Jammu and Kashmir over the coming week, with intermittent spells of rain and thunderstorms, while issuing a warning for heavy rainfall, flash floods and landslides in vulnerable areas of the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range.

According to Director MeT, Dr. Mukhtar Ahmad, as per news agency JKNS, July 9-10 is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with scattered rain and thundershowers across the Union Territory and brief intense heavy showers at a few places in Jammu division.

He said that during July 11-12, many places are likely to receive one or two spells of rain and thundershowers, with heavy rainfall and brief intense showers expected at isolated locations in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal range of Jammu division.

For July 13-16, the weather is expected to remain generally hot and humid, with scattered rain and thundershower activity and isolated intense showers over parts of Jammu division.

The MeT Department has advised people to remain cautious, warning of the possibility of flash floods, landslides and mudslides at vulnerable locations in the Chenab Valley and Pir Panjal region during July 11-12, particularly during afternoon, night and early morning hours.

The advisory also urged residents and travellers to stay away from nallas, streams and landslide-prone areas during the forecast period. (JKNS)
