Ramban Accident: To Trace Of Missing On Day 3

Jammu, Sep 2 (GNS): A joint rescue operation by police and SDRF continued on the third consecutive day on Wednesday but met no success in tracing any bodies of persons drowned after a tempo traveller they were travelling in fell into river Chenab.

The tempo traveller (JK14-D 7929) reportedly carrying 9 passengers including four IRP policemen plunged into river Chenab at Mehar on Monday afternoon in district Ramban.

The team could not trace any body today. However, the identity of some drowned passengers has been established from the bags police collected from the river.

The Police personnel who are feared drowned wash away on  include head constable Mohd Latief of Duru Anantnag, AP 07th Channi Jammu, Constable/ op Aashaq Hussain of Chadoora Budgam (IR 16th Ramban), Const/op Altaf  Ahmed of Sherpura , Pattan,  IR 16th Ramban and constable Hafeez Ahmed, IR 16th Ramban,  of Gandarwan Akhnoor, Jammu.

The missing civilians include  driver Ajay Kumar of Pouni Reasi, Kuljeet Singh Nek Singh of Mutlal, Ukhral, Ramban , Sheshan Devi of Ukhral  and Arun Gupta of Rohtas Bihar, an IRCON Srinagar employees.

Only one person survived in the mishap, Mehrajuddin of Awantipora, at present 7th Channi Jammu. (GNS)
